My First Time At Hela

My first visit to Hela was fantastic. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant.

The reception area.

Here is how it went:

I arrived and was greeted by a very nice young lady at the front desk. She escorted me to the soothing waiting area until my aesthetician was ready for me.

When my aesthetician was ready, she came into the waiting area and escorted me to her treatment room.

A Hela Spa facial treatment room.

The facial was simply heavenly! My aesthetician was very well trained. She was from Denmark and went to school for two years. The facial include twenty minutes of a cleansing massage. The machine with the long arm at a forty-five degree angle blew steam on your face to bring up white heads and black heads so that when she performed her extractions - all done by hands - she could get everything out with very minimal pain.

The extraction process included her squeezing out the impurities. The tougher ones she was able to use a small tool to bring the black head or white head to the surface as to not cause any discomfort to you.

The extraction process lasted roughly fifteen minutes. Since everything had risen up to the top layer of the skin, my facialist was able to swiftly remove everything.

During this whole time though, your hands have been moisturized and place in warming mittens as to keep the moisture locked-in.

And so, fifty minutes later you have this:

My face may be slightly red, but it is glowing. This means you have been proper cleansed!

Review: Born Rich

This documentary was outstanding. What an insight into the mystique that is the wealthy. I find it so interesting that these young adults "spill the beans". AND that this film in directed by one of the wealthiest.

My one issue is the word "rich". A wise lawyer/substitute teacher, Paul Trayers, once told me, "rich defines the texture or taste of something." I completely agree. I believe the director want to use a term for the "masses" so as to attract them.

I highly recommend this film for anyone that thinks they would truly enjoy that Gossip Girl life.

Review: 2010

2010 has come and gone now (I know there are a few more days, but nothing much more will occur).

I want to look back and reflect. I want to thank people (A TON!) So let me begin:

Elaine MensahAba Bonney KwawuJames Cornwell, Marie Nichole Devolites, Maggy Francois, Kenny Flanagan, Tim Gunn, Andrea RodgersPergrin PervezDouglas SondersNicholas Cambata, Elizabeth Hogue, Elisabeth Link, Emore'J, Rachel Roy, Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Michael, Lydia Russo, Makeda Saggau-Sackey, Christine Brooks-Cropper, Shannon Kietly and SO many more that I know I will be editing this post for!

The above individuals helped me and continue to help me in with my fashion endeavors. I may have worked with them, interviewed them, reviewed an event or show, or they are just an amazing individual that I have come across in my journeys!

I have attended so many events this year:

  1. Rachel Roy Meet-and-Greet @ Macy's (Tysons Galleria)

I try to keep very busy and still attend high school full time. It is a challenge, but it will pay off in the end, I know it will.

I don't write this to brag or gloat, but purely reflect that at 17 (16 for a majority of these events) I was 17! I want to show all young adults that you can do anything you put your mind to!

Thank you to everyone! And PLEASE let me know if I have forgotten anything! I will not take offense; I want to make sure everyone gets due credit!
