Review: Born Rich

This documentary was outstanding. What an insight into the mystique that is the wealthy. I find it so interesting that these young adults "spill the beans". AND that this film in directed by one of the wealthiest.

My one issue is the word "rich". A wise lawyer/substitute teacher, Paul Trayers, once told me, "rich defines the texture or taste of something." I completely agree. I believe the director want to use a term for the "masses" so as to attract them.

I highly recommend this film for anyone that thinks they would truly enjoy that Gossip Girl life.

Fashion Week Outfit #1?

Hey everyone! I hope your Holidays were well, but now to get thinking about Fashion Week in February!

I stopped by Barney's CO-OP at the Collection at Chevy Chase and thought this would great option:

The entire outfit (minus socks and ring) is Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Thoughts? I'm thinking yes!

My Top Secret News: Working with Mya

As you read earlier I was working on something very TOP SECRET. Well now I can tell you what. I was working on Mya's new music video!! I was helping 8112 Studios with publicity and will be featuring EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes pictures here, but know: I have NO pictures of Mya. We all agreed to keep her outfits a secret until the premier!

But there are SOME photos I can share:

These are the official press photos, again, no one was allowed to take photos of Mya in her outfits. The building suspense will be very much worth it though!

More behind the scenes photos after the jump!

25 December 2010

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope your Christmas day was great (and will be great for the rest of today)!

This made my day even better:

I can't wait for the snow!!

Review: 2010

2010 has come and gone now (I know there are a few more days, but nothing much more will occur).

I want to look back and reflect. I want to thank people (A TON!) So let me begin:

Elaine MensahAba Bonney KwawuJames Cornwell, Marie Nichole Devolites, Maggy Francois, Kenny Flanagan, Tim Gunn, Andrea RodgersPergrin PervezDouglas SondersNicholas Cambata, Elizabeth Hogue, Elisabeth Link, Emore'J, Rachel Roy, Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Michael, Lydia Russo, Makeda Saggau-Sackey, Christine Brooks-Cropper, Shannon Kietly and SO many more that I know I will be editing this post for!

The above individuals helped me and continue to help me in with my fashion endeavors. I may have worked with them, interviewed them, reviewed an event or show, or they are just an amazing individual that I have come across in my journeys!

I have attended so many events this year:

  1. Rachel Roy Meet-and-Greet @ Macy's (Tysons Galleria)
  2. All Access Fashion (Tysons Galleria)
  3. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Lincoln Center, NYC)
  4. Emore'J Couture Apparatus II (TheArc)
  5. Mya's new music video @ Lima (K Street)
  6. Nicole Miller Meet-and-Greet (Tysons Galleria)
  7. Scarf Party (New to You Boutique)
  8. Shoot for Change (Georgetown BoConcept)
  9. 6th Annual Fashion Fights Poverty Gala (Artisphere, Roslyn)
  10. FFP Lookbook Photo Shoot (Old Town)
  11. MStyle Lab Launch @ Macy''s (Tysons Corner)
  12. Paul Wharton Meet-and-Greet (Tysons Corner)
  13. Rebecca Minoff Meet-and-Greet (Tysons Galleria)
  14. West Potomac High School Fashion Show (West Potomac High School)
  15. National Fashion Design Awards Keynote Address (Renwick Gallery, DC)
  16. House of Kas Store Opening Runway Show (National Harbor)
  17. Project Fundway Judging (National Harbor)
  18. Project Fundway Finale Show (The Warner Theatre)

I try to keep very busy and still attend high school full time. It is a challenge, but it will pay off in the end, I know it will.

I don't write this to brag or gloat, but purely reflect that at 17 (16 for a majority of these events) I was 17! I want to show all young adults that you can do anything you put your mind to!

Thank you to everyone! And PLEASE let me know if I have forgotten anything! I will not take offense; I want to make sure everyone gets due credit!

A new Follower!

I was so thrilled to see this email:

Kay Unger is an incredible designer and is very sweet. She is actively involved with many charities as well.

Kay tweeted me this:

As you can tell she is wonderful! Check out some pictures from her fashion show at Saks at Tysons Galleria:

Stay Warm With...

Karen Millen! During All Access Fashion I sat at the Karen Millen show and it was great seeing all of the Fall/Winter collection pieces. Here is a pea coat that is very chic this season:

I wil start doing little posts about pieces every now and again. Enjoy!

I had an accident....

I passed out at school today while giving blood. It was truly a scary experience!

The sticker says, "I tried have you?" See, I tried even though I passed out...

My Class Ring!!

So today during my school's lunches everyone was able to pick up their class ring!!! I love mine! Check it out:

The stone is my birthday stone (I'm a November baby). The next picture is my school seal and the last picture shows my favorite school organization: DECA. DECA is an association of marketing students and it is so much fun being able to compete with students that have the same interests as me!

Looking Way Back: Interviewing Kay Unger

Over six months ago I was able to interview Kay Unger! She was a joy and was sweet while talking to me. I mainly asked her questions about Phoebe Couture, her collection for a younger audience. Apparently Phoebe is the name of her business partner's daughter - how sweet, right!?

What I'm wearing: What Goes Around Comes Around tee shirt and blazer. Not shown: Fossil watch and American Eagle light-wash denim.

Can't wait to tell you everything!!

Twitter Tweet: Roitfeld

By now all of you have heard of the resignation of the French Vogue editor in chief Carine Roitfeld. I woke up to seeing this on Twitter.

This shows that the fashion industry is very dominating since one person's action brought the whole industry a buzz!

Twitter Tweet: a wonderful #ff

SEVERAL Fridays ago the wonderful socialite Katherine Kennedy #ff-ed me!! (I don't mean that sound dirty, promise.) I was so surprised and honored!

Here is a screen shot:

Thank you so much Katherine!!! You are truly a wonderful person!

I have a dilemma...

Today I have the opportunity of a lifetime: to meet the pop star Mya. But also today, I have a huge amount of homework and studying to do for all my classes tomorrow and for the rest of the week.

So do I study and make produce good grades or continue securing my future? But then comes the argument that good grades are required to secure my future at college. Help?

A little piece of Bliss

After my last facial, I was given a few samples. One of them was amazing!

The Peeling Groovy Facial Serum is like liquid microdermabrasion! I highly recommend it!

Ben Mikoff

I love Rebecca Minkoff! I met her at an event at Saks in Tysons Galleria.

Rebecca was so kind as to hint to a possible mens collection coming out and guess what? I was allowed to borrow one these "possible" bags for fashion week:

Its very hard to see but the bag is there in my hand.

The Gregger Tote: simply amazing!

Keeping warm in the cold with...

VINCE! Talk about wearing baby-bottom smooth on you skin! That is what the material of my Vince hooded-shirt feels like!

Vince is known for their amazing sweaters and I picked up my shirt from Scoop NYC in SoHo last year around this time. Enjoy my impromptu photo shoot pics:

Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2011 Press Registration Opens In...

THREE DAYS!!

Why am I so excited? Because I have been normally invited to shows, but I'm ready to finally be able to say "I'm press!" I know not everyone loves bloggers/press members, but I am just trying to show that any teenager that puts their mind to something can do it! Here are some quick pics:

Don't mind my third eye!

More after the jump!!!

23 November 2010

I am now a model agent!...sort of....

As I continue to grow my company, RiEN online, I have opened new "divisions". Basically I want to a have a little input in major parts of the fashion industry. Right now I have my blog, Twitter and Facebook. But now I can add my modeling division!

My models are only for use within RiEN. They will be used to hold items and be the models in photo shoots. Also, we will allow them to do work in the DC/Metro area.

Here is the e-comp card of my newest male model:

I know its a little hard to see ( I am redoing it for the print version).

If you interested in booking Mr. Mattimoe, please shoot me an e-mail at ryan.charchian@msgft.com

What is Apple planning?

When I opened up Safari after school today I noticed this on the Safari/Apple start page:

In California/ West Coast, the announcement will be shown at 7am, New York/East Coast, 10 am, London, 3pm and lastly Tokyo, 12 midnight.

I have no clue what it is, but I do know it is for iTunes. I'll let you know tomorrow!

13 November 2010

The Scarf Party

As you may recall, I was invited to a scarf party. Now, having attended it, I can say, it was a lot of fun!

First, a note to all GPS users: the location isn't accurate in the GPS system. The store is there, don't worry though! Just make sure you turn on to West Broad Street.

Now with this said, on to my review. The event was very nice and had a great theme. Almost everyone there had a scarf on. When I walked in, I was greeted by Marymount Fashion Club girls and was told the night's happenings. My friend whom invited me, Lydia Russo, was so kind and even gave me a gift since my birthday was the next day! That was very sweet and that just made my night. For an event producer to give a gift to guest is very, very sweet!

I snagged these pictures of the event! They are after the jump!

Taking Fashion to New Heights Review

Our newest reporter, Amanda Bater, reports on the event.:

Taking Fashion to NEW Heights FALL Runway Show
by: Amanda Bater

“Style is and attitude, we were born with it while others became accustom to it.”
Terrance Payton told me this quote while I was there and I loved it!
Most people go to fashion shows and admire the clothes and the style but this show was different. People could relate to other figures besides your typical model. The fashion I saw was urban and main stream. All the designers I spoke with were inspired by different things like relationships, Vegas, Lady Gaga, other countries and more. This event made everyone feel they could be front row since the models walked all over the aviation museum so everyone could see the clothes up close or up top on the balcony. I wish more people could do shows like this!

Tonight is the ROE The Agency runway show! I was invited several weeks ago, but I am unable to attend, so I am sending the newest editor for Rien Online, Amanda Bater, to it.

I can't wait for he report!

Group Shot from Project Fundway

Sorry that I break up my posts so much. But here is the full group shot of judges and the designers:

Here we all are!

A Reason Why I Love DC

Today I went to Tysons Galleria to pick up some Godiva chocolates, Calvin Klein underwear, and the newest Capitol File issue (unique combo, I know!). While leaving I saw this:

I took this on my phone. It is three government black Escalades. Getting out of the cars were Special Agents. I don't know who was the special someone being guarded. I just love the fact, though, that you can be at the mall one moment and then Special Agents roll in.
I love DC.

Back Post: Picking the clothes for the shoot

So as I just posted about, I styled a shoot for Fashion Fights Poverty, but we had to pick the clothes for that shoot.

This is what we saw at Mint Condition, a chic consignment boutique in Old Town, VA. Pics after the jump!

Styling a photo shoot!

Today I styled a shoot for the next issue of the Fashion Fights Poverty's lookbook.

It was great! I discovered a new model named Ryan Mattimoe. Here is 17 and goes to my school. I introduced him to you in this post. Ryan is complete natural. The other model, Mariah Schoolfield, is/was amazing as well! She is amazingly tall and so sweet! I can't wait to work with her again!
